Rainbows for Kate Update

From the hundreds of generous donations Rainbows for Kate has received so far, we are delighted to inform you that to date have raised over $500,000 dollars !

This is an incredible achievement and we are extremely proud of the support we have received from our ever-expanding network of friends. Importantly, it is time to provide an update on where we are with respect to putting this money to good use.

In consultation with Dr David Thomas at the Peter McCallum Cancer Research Institute in Melbourne, we are in the process of commissioning a liquid nitrogen container and a -70°C freezer for the purpose of containing the data necessary for meaningful research into Sarcoma cancers to begin. This is an extremely exciting development, as it is the very first time this will have been done in Australia and it has only been made possible because of your support. As well as the nitrogen container and freezer, we are also establishing plans to employ dedicated research nurses and database support staff to assist in the collection and management of the data we collect.

The Rainbows for Kate Foundation is also looking ahead, and we are planning to apply for Cancer Australia funding in late 2009 / early 2010. Again this is only possible because of the groundswell of support Rainbows for Kate has received. In the meantime, we look forward to your ongoing support and, most importantly, we look forward to providing you with further updates on our collective fight against cancer.

Thank you all so much,

Rainbows for Kate
